چکیده

N 1962, we 1 published a report on the value of the comparative Usodium/Ucreatinine ratio in the diagnosis of hypertension due to renal arterial stenosis. This ratio is defined as the proportional relation between the concentration of sodium and creatinine (U5Odiu./Ucreatinine) in the urine issuing simultaneously from each ureter. We also suggested that routine performance of dehydrated-hydrated intravenous pyelography on all hypertensive patients would adequately exclude renal arterial stenosis as the cause of the elevated blood pressure. In the crucible of 1 year's time, these tenets have held. This paper extends these observations and appraises them more critically. It also describes a method whereby, without added discomfort to the patient, the difference in comparative Usodium/Ucreatinine ratio, in the presence of renal arterial stenosis, is greatly exaggerated by preceding the urine collection with a provocative infusion of hypertonic saline solution.

گزارش یک مورد درمان هیپرتانسیون عروق کلیــوی ناشی از تنگی شریان کلیــــوی به روشPTRA

ABSTRACT Renal artery stenosis is one of the treatable causes of systemic hypertension in children. For years surgery was the treatment of choice, but recently PTRA (Percutaneous Transluminal Renal Angioplasty) has been successfully performed for relief of the stenosis. This method compared with surgery is safe, simple and has lower complication rate. At times stent placement is performed in co...

MITRAL STENOSIS COMPLICATED BY RENAL ARTERY EMBOLISM

Six patients with mitral stenosis complicated by renal artery embolism studied prospectively are presented. In five patients there was unilateral and in one patient bilateral renal artery involvement. The diagnosis was confirmed by intravenous pyelography, retrograde pyelography, renal angiography, renal scan or a combination of these. All had atrial fibrillation, proteinuria and elevated ...

Renal Scintigraphy Following Angiotensin Converting Enzyme Inhibition in the Diagnosis of Renovascular Hypertension (Captopril Scintigraphy)

Renovascular hypertension (R VH) may be due to unilateral or bilateral stenosis of the main renal artery (RAS), branch arterial stenosis, whole kidney or focal renal infarction, aneurysms, or arteriovenous malformations. Other entities such as hydronephrosis, renal cysts, or neoplasms may produce high renal vein renin hypertension, but they do not belong to the classic group of causes of renova...
